Round Thirteen Report

Best of Round Thirteen:

Player: Fred, Melbourne - played just 45 mins after collecting an injury early on, but carved up the porous Roar midfield to set up the win for Victory. (Of those on the pitch for more than one half, Perth's David Tarka.)

U-20 Player: Adrian Leijer, Melbourne - aside from the odd random malicious act, has been so consistent all season

Coach: Ron Smith, Perth - interesting to see the gamble of playing Jamie Harnwell up front pay off, even if it was a bit of a cowboy trick

Match: Perth Glory vs Newcastle United Jets

Goal: Luka Glavas - calmly stealing the win with a well-placed, side-footed strike inside the far post in the 94th minute. Lovely turn to beat two defenders from Leo Bertos in the build-up.

4-4-2 Team of the Week:

Damian Mori - David Zdrilic
Stan Lazaridis - Grant Brebner - Steve Corica - Leo Bertos
Seo Hyuk-soo - David Tarka - Mark Rudan - Iain Fyfe
Tommi Tomich

Subs: Michael Turnbull, Rodrigo Vargas, Robbie Middleby, Reinaldo

Glad to see 3 Roar players in the mix this week James.

Foxtel commentators made it clear they didn't think Seo was adding value. But at the game he looked great. Danny A gave us a smile after the Seo nutmeg too.

Reinaldo. Some fans don't favour him. But I've seen him score some great goals, set up some great goals and he really has earned at least 3 penalties. Our poor inexperienced refs just won't give them.

I wonder how the Melbourne boys would have gone if we'd had a hot start to summer up here?

Reinaldo frustrates me. He seems to have some talent, but the thing that goes against him is that he has a hard first touch and ball gets away from him far too often.

Seo belongs in the centre of midfield. I don't understand why he has been playing at right back.
