Queensland coach Miron Bleiberg on playing John Kosmina's Adelaide this weekend:
"Of course I want to beat him," he said. "I'd give my left arm, not my right because that's the one I play tennis with, to beat him."
(This has just got to become a regular segment.)

What a game. What a game. It had everything except anything looking like Adelaide would win. Lynch missed at least one sitter (at the keeper's legs). Ref Matthew Breeze proved Corica's case, one example in the 30th Reinaldo only has the keeper to beat and is pulled down from behind by his shirt - Breeze waves play on then books Lynch for disent. Qu takes out Gibson with a head butt then wonders why he is sent off - in fair play week. Wedau plays a binder and is subbed by Miron. The last 20 minutes is 100% Roar, yet can't get past a keep who is playing out of skin. Adelaide defence looks their age. Then on 93 minutes Zhang over-runs an open goal.
G'day Miron. I'm very new to this football blogging, and when I started last week I couldn't find any other Ozzie blogs except The Soccer Squirrel which appears to have seized up since the World Cup. So I started my own, and I guess I'm doing it now, even though since then I've discovered a few other good ones.
I found you via Keks, via Owatalk.
I will be coming with a natural Roar bias, as I'm a Queenslander, so I'll be keeping an eye on your Miron quotes. Good idea to make it a regular feature - I'll throw you suggestions if I have any.
Regards, and consider yourself linked!
Welcome, Hamish. I notice you've found Mike Salter's The Football Tragic already. Be sure to check out Tony Tannous' The Round Ball Analyst as well. Fabulous blogs; very jealous.
I'll be sure to add your site under my links.
Thanks Miron. The Round Ball Analyst is indeed new to my list.
James, I can't believe I've been serially calling you Miron. The source of the error is obvious enough, but it's still unforgiveable. Please accept my humble apologies!
How about this for a Miron quote:
'Melbourne are the team to beat at the moment but they're not Real Madrid. They had a bit of help from Lady Luck with a soft penalty against Perth last week. Melbourne are not something out of this world. So who says Tommy (Willis Roar's other keeper) can't do the job?'
Hey Hamish, don't sweat it. With a name like James Brown you get thick-skinned and used to most sort of antics derived from names and naming.
As for Miron's quote of the week, I reckon he might be treasuring a pearler for unleashing closer to Sunday's big clash. As if the selection of Tom Willis over Liam Reddy wasn't bizarre enough. Mind games, or what?
Here's a cheeky suggestion for Miron's quote of the week. It's in reference to the Roar after training in Melbourne:
"At least now they know where the good grass is."
How about Miron suggesting that Roar should win for the good of the A-League (true of course ;) )
I this this week's Miron quote?
'We played bad against Melbourne Victory'
I quite like, "I believe that the midfield is the most important part of the team as there is no point having flashy tyres and upholstery if the engine is no good," from here.
